How do the seals around windows, hatches and doors look?
Look for cracking, gaps, lifting or discoloured silicone. Check all that apply.
When was the caravan last resealed?
Roof, hatches and vents — how are the seals up top?
The roof takes the most sun and is the most common place seals fail.
Any warning signs inside?
These are the early symptoms of water already getting in. Have a look and think back over the last few trips.
Inside the van
Any musty or damp smell when you open it up?
That closed-up musty smell is often the first sign of hidden moisture.
Any staining, discolouration or bubbling on walls or ceiling?
Check corners, around windows and along the ceiling join. Check all that apply.
Any soft or spongy spots in the floor or walls?
Press around windows, under them, and near the door. Soft = timber already rotting.
Do any windows fog up or hold condensation between the panes?
