How it works

How a weigh-in
actually runs.

Four steps, about 30 minutes on site. You walk away knowing exactly where every kilogram is sitting.

01

Roll onto the pads

You pull your caravan onto four calibrated wheel pads. We read each wheel independently — no averaging, no estimates.

02

Hitch & combination

If your tow vehicle is here, we weigh it too — both separately and hitched together — so you see the full combination picture.

03

Balance test

Side-to-side and front-to-back balance measured directly. Tow ball mass verified against the 8–12% healthy ratio range.

04

Walk through results

We sit with you and explain every number — what's within limits, what's borderline, and where you can safely rebalance.

What we measure

Every number that matters,
measured directly.

No estimates, no derived math where it doesn't need to be. Six core measurements, plus every legal limit on your compliance plates checked against them.

01 · Caravan ATM

Aggregate Trailer Mass

Total loaded weight of your caravan — everything inside plus the tow ball. Compared directly against your compliance plate limit.

02 · Axle loads · GTM

Per-axle weight

Each axle read independently. Confirms you're within axle rating and shows exactly how weight is distributed front-to-back.

03 · Tow ball mass

TBM & the 8–12% ratio

Downward force on the towbar measured directly. Tested against your vehicle's ball limit and the 8–12% healthy tow ball ratio for stability.

04 · Vehicle GVM

Hitched & unhitched

Tow vehicle weighed both ways so you see how much the caravan actually adds. Confirms you're within GVM in real towing conditions.

05 · Combination GCM

The full setup weighed together

Total combined weight of tow vehicle and caravan coupled up. This is the number most owners never actually check — and the one most often over.

06 · Full compliance

Every legal limit checked

Measured numbers automatically tested against every limit on your compliance plates. Pass/fail on each, with the margin shown clearly.

What you'll receive

A digital report that lives
as long as your caravan does.

You don't just get numbers on a slip. You get a full digital report, an interactive tool you can log back into for 12 months, and plain-English guidance on what to do next.

12 months digital access included
  • A full PDF compliance report
Every measured number, every calculated ratio, every compliance check — laid out cleanly so you can share it with insurers or the dealer.
  • Personalised balance ratios from a real test
Side-to-side balance, front-to-back distribution, tow ball ratio — measured from your specific setup, not estimated from tables.
  • Interactive online tool for 12 months
Log back in anytime to model load changes, plan a big trip, or check what removing a specific item does to your numbers.
  • Plain-English guidance
If something's borderline or over, we tell you specifically what to do — not just that a number was red.

Common questions

Weighing,
explained.

The compliance plate shows manufacturer-rated weights and unloaded tare weight. It doesn't tell you what your van actually weighs once you've added water tanks, batteries, solar panels, awnings, accessories, and the gear you actually travel with. The difference between plate and reality is often 200-700 kg. If your tow vehicle's max towing capacity is close to your loaded van weight, that gap becomes the difference between legal and illegal — and between safe and not.
24 direct measurements from your scales, pads, photos, and tape measure on a typical weigh-in — more if we run multiple balance test verifications. From those 24 measurements, the formula engine derives 28 calculated values (axle totals, side balance, ratios, remaining capacities) and runs 11 distinct compliance checks against every manufacturer-rated limit on your plates.
Three on the caravan (over ATM, over GTM, payload negative), three on the unhitched vehicle (over GVM, front axle over, rear axle over), three on the hitched vehicle (the same three but with the rig connected), and two on the combination (tow ball mass over max TBM, combination over GCM including the caravan-to-car ratio test). You see pass or fail on each, in plain English.
Unhitched gives you the caravan's true ATM (its real total weight) and its real Tow Ball Mass when standing on its own. Hitched shows what happens when it's connected — how the tow ball mass transfers onto the rear axle of your vehicle, what your real GCM is, and whether the combination is operating within its towing rating. Both pictures matter. We capture both, in one visit.
After we've measured the rig, we add a known weight at a known distance from the axle and re-read the tow ball mass. The system compares the measured change against what the geometry predicts — if they don't agree, we know there's a measurement error somewhere and we redo it before producing your report. Up to three balance tests can be run, each capturing distance from axle, fore/aft position, test weight, and resulting new TBM. It's a built-in sanity check, not an afterthought.
After we measure your van's geometry — tow ball forward of axle, rear bar behind axle — we calculate the lever arm of your van's chassis. That lets us predict how moving any load along the chassis affects tow ball weight. Move the fridge, add a generator, fit a rear-mount bike rack? You can see the impact before you commit. It's a permanent tool that lives in your digital report.
We come to you. The full system travels in our service vehicle. We just need a flat, level area big enough for your rig — your driveway, a storage facility, a caravan park bay, or a worksite. As long as we have access, we can weigh.
Caravan plus vehicle, both hitched and unhitched, with balance test and geometry measurements — typically 60-75 minutes. Caravan only is faster, around 30-45 minutes.
Digital. Within minutes of finishing the weigh-in, you'll get a shareable link. It works on any device, no login. The link stays live so you can share it with your insurer, a workshop, or anyone who needs to see your numbers.
Having a recent weight certificate isn't itself a legal requirement, but you ARE legally required to be within all your weight limits when towing. Without measurement, you have no way to know if you are. The certificate doesn't make you legal — being within limits does. The report proves it.
